The 909 Drum Machine and its place in House & Techno
There is NOTHING we crave more these days than being back on a dark, techno dance floor with you all.
What defines techno in your opinion?
While your answers will vary, there is no denying that the Roland TR-909 Drum Machine is the one piece of gear that defined techno when the genre was created, and continues to define it to this day.
Introduced in 1983, the TR-909 was the first Roland drum machine featuring both sampled and analog drum sounds that have since become staples of techno and house music.
Every September 9th the techno community celebrates what is known as 909 Day, honoring the drum machine that defined techno.
Today, we are launching our LIMITED EDITION TR-909 Collection, featuring a t-shirt and hoodie paying homage to the TR-909.
Check them out here at the shop, we think you're gonna love them!
Both are available for pre-order now so that you receive them in time for 909 Day on Sept 9th.
Be a coffee bean and change the world around you
Looking forward to #808Day
It’s hard to believe that a drum machine launched in 1980 would be celebrated today by lovers of culture, music, and design. 808DAY (aka 8 August) is about the people who ‘got’ the original 808, the artists who took it to another level, and most importantly, everyone who loves the music the 808 inspired.
Our team is looking forward to commemorating the magnificent 808 drum machine on August 8th (808 Day). To honor this masterpiece, we have opened up orders for our 808 tribute tees and zip-up hoodies which are available now so you can order today and rock them with us on #808day. The 808 tribute apparel officially kicks off our drum machine collection at the shop. Watch out for the 909 tribute soon!
Freedom is House & Techno
How can you not ask yourself that with all the violence and injustice that has dominated the news headline in the past few months?
We were brought up to believe that Freedom is the power and inalienable right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. But we all know that that's not true at all.
From Woman's Suffrage to Jim Crow laws and segregation, as well as the LGBTQ+ Human Rights laws passed in recent years and the police brutality, injustice and racism we still see so prevalent in our lives today, it is clear that we are not living in a time of true Freedom.
Freedom was not given but fought for and we continue to fight for it even to this very day.
When I think of Freedom I can't help but to think of those moments on the dance floor when you're one with the music, the community, and the vibe, but most importantly when you are one with your own mind and self; being and feeling as free as life has to offer.
When I think of Freedom, I think of a House & Techno dancefloor, where Freedom truly exists even if it's for a moment in time, for that one night on the dancefloor.
This is why we all keep coming back to the dancefloor: because we want to live and be Free.
This weekend, as you celebrate Independence Day ask yourself, "What does Freedom mean to you and what are some of the things that give you the most sense of Freedom?"
I have a feeling it just might be that dance floor we all miss so much.
Please continue to stay healthy everyone and enjoy the holiday this weekend!
Know Black Lives, Know House & Techno
BLACK LIVES MATTER. Music, including House and Techno, would not exist without black communities and artists. These are indisputable facts.
Denying this is not only a denial of our roots but tantamount to racism.
It's time. It's time for music industry organizations and individuals to become purposefully active in joining and supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
Some of the industry’s biggest names have shown lack of empathy and involvement through most of the weekend, some of whom continued with live streams and social media-driven initiatives without a single mention of the events taking place in the United States — the country that gave birth to the music, community and industry they are known to be the leaders of today. While many are finally waking up to their responsibilities, posting messages of solidarity and support in the last twenty-four hours, their lack of action until this point must be called out.
To simply put, those who understand the root of our scene and music understand the prominent role the black community has had on house and techno. Without black artists such as Frankie Knuckles, DJ Spen, Lil Louie Vega, and the likes there would be no House music and same can be said of Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, and Derrick May for Techno as a genre. To dismiss this fact is to dismiss the very problem we see today.
It's time for our music community to stand up for the inequality and injustice and some of the leaders and major platforms of our music community must step up collectively to address, understand, and fight for what is right!
100% of all proceeds will be donated to the NAACP, in support of the BLACK LIVES MATTER Movement.
It's Time to End Racism Now!
We have had it. It's time we ALL step up and do something whether it's online or offline or both, we are given the platform to help spread the message and let our individual actions create the ripple that allows for justice and freedom to be seen, heard, and felt. It's time...#allblacklivesmatter #nojusticenopeace
It's time to show love.
It's time to create peace.
It's time to destroy racism.
It's time to fight for equality.
It's time to end sexual harassment.
It's time to speak out against injustice.
It's time to end the systemic racism that has deeply rooted itself within our society.
We need to use this time to reflect, to self-educate, and stand up for a broken system that hurts ALL of our citizens and most especially the Black community that has suffered since the beginning of a civilized North America dating to the 1700s. It's time we end this now...

Our fight against the virus, join the Anti Covid movement
Uniting the techno community from all over the world to fight COVID-19 by practicing social distancing, washing your hands often, and wearing a mask if you do go outside.
The techno community is hurting, and we are hurting not being able to be on a dance floor with you all, but we must remain positive, united and strong.
A portion from all proceeds will be donated to the Pandemic Relief Fund by United Way to support L.A. County’s unsheltered residents who are especially vulnerable to the coronavirus, and low-income individuals, students and families at imminent risk of homelessness and hardships due to health and economic impacts of coronavirus. More info: https://www.unitedwayla.
By joining our Anti Covid Techno Club you will not only be joining our techno community in the fight against the virus, but will assist 6AM and our staff through these tough months of cancelled events.
We will rave together again, but it will take all of us doing our part for that to happen sooner rather than later.
