Happy 303 Day!
Roland’s 303, which was released in 1981, was originally designed as an electronic substitute for the bass guitar. It failed spectacularly to live up to its intended function, but found new life as the machine responsible for the sound of acid house and acid techno.
This is a great story and lesson in life that just because the original plan failed, doesn't mean you can't pivot and still make something great and remarkable.
Today, the global house & techno community pays hommage to this bassline synthesizer that revolutionized the music genre we love so much! Grab your 303 tee and hoodie and join the ACID society :)
